I’m officially done with Battlefield: Bad Company 2. As per requested by my best friend, I gave it one last go round. Being a COD4 and MW2 fan he had to convince me to buy it in the first place and I rarely blind buy games without renting them first, but he is my best friend and avid gamer, what could go wrong?
I’ve been playing off and on for the better part of two days now and feel that I have given this game plenty of time to make an “educated” decision. This game F’ing sux!! The game is literally so damn frustrating I wanted to throw my controller at the freaking wall and I haven’t wanted to do that since Ninja Gaiden 2! Now, I know MW2 and COD4 have their flaws and I get frustrated with those games as well; however, I also have good games and have fun playing. With BBC2, I have yet to have that experience.
Case in point, I was playing today, this morning actually, with any map, team/squad death match, and hard core. In several of the games I hit a guy with my sniper rifle, the M24, and it literally takes two shots to kill them, unless I hit them in the head. On the snow level, for example, I mortar a guy in a building giving him damage AND shot him in the chest. Wow! Imagine that, he didn’t die. So, I figure, screw it, I’ll just go up and finish him off. Well, obviously that didn’t work. I get up the stairs turn around and here he comes around the corner and kills me in two shots, with his HAND GUN!! Seriously, I mortar and snipe him in the chest with nothing, but he pops two caps in my ass ending my curiosity with this ridiculous game. I thought this was hardcore?? It seemed like normal play only without the map. This scenario happens in several other games until finally I said I’m done. This game is going to Gamestop while it still has some value and reserving Black Ops.
Maybe it’s my setup, strategy (I've tried camping, sniping, and run-n-gun), perhaps my connection, or maybe I just plan suck, but this game has truly worn out it’s welcome and sticking to my plan of renting before buying.
