Since it’s pretty slow this week in gaming news and I am getting bored with Modern Warfare 2, so I decided to download and play the new Crackdown 2 demo. Since I am normally a first person shooter type player, this new third person view was rather different. The comic book looking graphics were unlike anything I have ever played, so that took a few minutes to get used to.
Your character was constantly shooting at bad guys and the ability to drive the police car while mowing down zombies, for lack of a better term, was really fun. Having never played the Crackdown series, I was a little confused on the aim of the game, so I just shot up bad guys and drove around looking for people to run over. I did notice a couple of aggravating things, however. For instance, the announcer guy got really annoying after a couple of minutes. I have absolutely no patience, so I was ready to get into the action, but the narrator kept telling me to do this and if you shoot that it will cause a chain reaction of explosions, blah, blah, blah. Just let me play the damn game and I’ll figure out all of the nuances of the game for myself.
Another thing was I just couldn’t figure out how to call in the air support. I don’t know if I was just unfamiliar with the game, or if I was just hitting the wrong buttons. Either way, I couldn’t get any help from the air, which I really needed because I ran out of ammo and all these zombies kept chasing me. I did have fun playing the game, but I’ll probably just save my money for Black Ops and other games before buying this one. What was your take?
