Usually the summer is notoriously slow for games, but this year is a little different, thanks to the games that didn't want to compete against other big name titles or Exclusive Beta or Demos out now. I've bought a ton and played quite a few, just to get a taste. Whether you cared to know or not, here's my thoughts on those games demos and Betas.
Medal of Honor Beta (PS3) - I haven't played a ton of Modern Warfare.................errrrrr I mean Medal of Honor, but it's not bad. It plays a LOT like the other mentioned title. I hope they improve the dying animations. It freezes abruptly when your killed and then you drop dead. Still needs a pinch more polish but I expect Dice will do that prior to the October release. BONUS: I didn't die like a bitch, like I do in MW2. Waiting on 360 beta on this as well, as that's where I play my FPS.
Crackdown 2 Demo (360) - Criminals, Freaks, Oh My!!!! I really like the addictive nature of going apeshit on pretty much anything with in Pacific Heights. I really liked the first Crackdown more than I thought I would (wanted the Beta Access for Halo 3). This will be a great game. Can't wait.
Kane & Lynch 2 Demo (360) - I really wanted to like the first game, but flawed controls and cover screwed it for me. This one is greatly improved!!! I haven't tried the multiplayer yet (tonight maybe), but the single player portioned I really liked. Very unique camera style and the graphics were really good.
Naughty Bear (360) - The preschool version of Manhunt!!!! It's fun for a while and trying to meet the challenges. The deaths are kind of funny for sure.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior (360) - The graphics are really good and the sniping mechanics are really cool!!!! The problem is the AI tuning. These guys are carrying automatic guns with no scope and can pinpoint my guy, in a ghillie suit, from 300 meters away. At first I thought my ghillie suit was neon "hunting" orange. Tough game to say the least, especially on the "do not get spotted" missions.
Singularity (360) - I really like this one. It's time powers are creative and has a good story, not another crappy time manipulation game. This one has a very Bioshock vibe to it, which is good. Graphics are not as hot as they were a year ago, when it was suppose to release. This one blew all it's marketing money up front then got moved twice due to other big name releases, and now gets released with very little fanfare. Purchase bonus was good too. Get Prototype game for FREE through mail in rebate card.
Rock Band Green Day (360) - Like Green Day, like the game. Dislike Green Day, dislike the game. That simple. I like Green Day, and now I like even more of the songs I never paid attention to before. I'm really reved for Rock Band 3 and the Pro instruments.
Lego: Harry Potter (360) - OK, I haven't got to play this one yet, as 4 games all released on the same day. But I have loved the Lego games humor, and this one has received great reviews. I'm not a fan of Harry Potter. ............................................... (Pause) Waiting for the Boos to die down, but it's not my cup of tea, but I can see how it could be geared for the Lego universe.
I swear I buy too many games, but I can't help myself, and I've wanted to play something different than a FPS. I still have to finish Bioshock 2, Assassin's Creed 2 and Red Dead Redemption, yet go out and grab a ton of games, as well as pick Fifa 10 up used. My gamerscore is only as high as it is due to my ADD at having such a large amount of games. Most people finish these games off and play every last bit of a game. I go "Ohhhhhh New and Shiny game over here"!!!! I think I have only two retail games full finished for all their achievements. Oh well, back to gaming..........................................."SQUIRREL!!!!!!"
