What I'm looking forward to are the absolutely bizarre messages I will be receiving over Xbox Live due to Fable III. I know a lot of RPG purist hate the Fable series, but I've never been a huge RPG fan. I did really enjoy Mass Effect 2, but I feel both Fable and Mass Effect has a little more action to them than the traditional Final Fantasy type games. Anyway, this brings me to the fact that Fable III developer, Lionhead, announce yesterday that you will be able to "hook up" with your XBL friends and have kids!!!!! WHAT?!?!?! Yes have kids with your XBL friends. This is Great and Very Bad at the same time.
First the "Great" part. The hilarious messages that will be coming over XBL from your friends list, such as:
1st possible message - "When can you be on, so I can get knocked up"
2nd possible message - "I really need this achievement, how soon can you slip it to me?"
3rd possible message - "I think I'm pregnant............and I think you were the dad"
4th possible message - Friends Request Received - "I think we slept together in the tavern of Albion last night and had a good time let's hook up for adventure tonight"
Then let's not forget that Project Natal will be out by then. So whatever they hook up with that, messages could get even more interesting. Which leads to the potentially "Very Bad" section of this Blog.
Now with the Natal camera, or even the old XBL camera, will people ask to see me first before they commit to having kids? I had my fair share of "turn downs" on the bar scene 15 years ago. Do I need this disappointment now? Is this cheating on my wife? And even worse, potentially with another guy? And even way worse than that with a Timmy? Next I'll have the local police or Chris Hanson at my door for Soliciting a minor over the internet. Now I'm a parent of two, and my boy is 10, but loves to play games. These messages would concern me as a parent and could cause legal problems. Will Xbox be banning people for comments perceived as inappropriate? I hope it stays light-hearted and fun. We'll see!
