IW Idiots

Remember this quote?

"we do plan on running an extensive Closed Beta among Infinity Ward, Activision, and possibly 1st party partners worldwide. The internal beta will allow us all the benefits of a public beta test"

And later on this:

"Once the internal beta is completed, if for any reason we feel we didn’t receive the feedback, address the issues, or have the result we expect. We would consider pushing forward with a public one"

I hope these idiots take the recent events to heart and plan better for their next software project.  ALL of these issues would have been uncovered in a properly run public beta test and even if there wouldn't be any time to fix the issues before release, they would have gotten a month+ jump on fixing it and patches could have been ready within a couple of weeks of launch.

I'm sure the thinking went like this "why should we spend the money on a public beta test when we can just release it and have the suckers test it for us?".

I just read that the 1887s will be nerfed in a future update, there is NO DOUBT that such an overpowered weapon should have been identified in a beta.  There is no reason for them to drop the ball on that, even with an internal beta test.  If this was just an "eh" game, I wouldn't care and move on.  But it's such a great game that the flaws (and the flaws of the company that created it) make it very frustrating.

With the infinite ammo/reboot your xbox glitch, the game is practically unplayable now.  I was originally pissed that Left4Dead2 was released so close to MW2 but now I'm grateful.

I hope they don't get rid of the 1887, but just drop the range on them a bit. Akimbo shotguns up close SHOULD kill someone, just not from so far away. I need infinite ammo.....

Yeah, me too. L4D2 Rocks. The problem with open Beta testing nowadays is the variety of "Gamers" giving the feedback. Read the forums on any recent game for complaints and write them all down, then list all of the praise. Multiply both list by 5, 10, 20 thousand or more. Some people want the games so easy it's more like watching a movie. Some people want them so hard you have to spend 8 to 12 hours everyday for a few months to beat it solo. A small controlled testing group would be best, in my opinion, along with a much faster response toward "Glitches". The patches should not take this long to hit the mandatory game updates. Regardless of the "Fixes" that come someday, not everyone will be happy, but if they were more expedient or found before release, people would not see them or get used to them. That would mean less drama. Rant over.
