So of course I immediately called the number listed to see if it was still available. The lady who answered (who was extremely nice BTW) said I was the second to call and that if the first person did not pick up the game by 12:30 (he had stated he would grab it by 10am) that I could come get it. So of course I called her back at 12:31, learned that the game was still there and rushed right out to grab it, telling my boss that I had to attend to some "personal matters."
The game was a bit dirty (the lady who listed it had numerous cats) and needs a thorough cleaning, but was definitely a great snag.
The lady who had this game was very nice and had put a good deal of money into this game trying to get it to work. She said that she has several multi-games, one of which has Make Trax, and that she was tired of messing with this machine (after having a local service tech "fix" the board several times at a cost of several $100). I told her about our local group (NEACF) and mentioned that she should join and reach out to us if she needs any tech help for her other games. Told her we try to help each other out and stick together.
So here are some pics of the cab.
Though the cab is pretty dirty (and smells of cat pee), it is in pretty good shape. The CPO and joystick need to be replaced. Luckily, I just so happen to have a spare four-way Williams stick that I can swap out with this one. Marquee is in great shape.
The game does need a new lower coin door, so I am going to work on sourcing one out from our local collecting group.
And the GOOD NEWS is that the game fired right up when I plugged it in and turned it own. The owner stated that it would frequently show a garbled screen (sounded like a loose cap or pot on the monitor board) so I may have to do some trouble shooting.
I also need to clean the hell out of the inside of this thing as it is pretty ganky. But all in all a great snag at the bargain price of FREE.
