I would think that the people who thumbed you down are simply tired of the all too often fake "Remembrance" sentiments that occur on Sept 11th. Personally Sept 11th does hold a moment of resonance for me, but I don't feel the need to post flags, soot covered firemen or the stories of "real life" heroes. I think doing so just trivializes and insults the memory. However I gave you a +1, if for nothing else but knowing all too well how someone thumbing down a personal blog can piss you off

I generally have no idea if someone gave me a thumbs down. Be nice (or maybe not) to show how many thumbs up and down you get instead of having to keep track. I rarely give thumbs down. If I don't like it , I just move on and don't rate it.
