Back in Texas

The Monkee Road show continues.  After a week in CA and two weeks home, now its back to the DFW area again.  I have been on the same project for almost 18 months now, with no end in sight.  Considering that my typical project runs about 2 months, I am PRETTY WELL SICK OF THIS ONE, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

The only thing keeping me going is that at least its a cool project.  IPTV run over fiber optics.  Now, just back off naysayers, IPTV is paying my bills right now, so I dont want to hear jack about your opinion of the technology, or of the fact that were relying heavily on Microsoft to deliver on time.  (OK, that one makes even me laugh a little)

Those of  your in corporate America know this story:

My Boss: Hey, I need you to keep an eye on this project for a few weeks.  Shouldnt generate much more than a few hours work a week.

18 months later, here I still am, and Im going back to Texas for the 11th time in the past 8 months.

My Boss: Hey, its going great.  This is a real feather in your cap.

Man, Ive got so many feathers in my cap, I feel like I should be thinking about war paint!  Unless these are golden feathers, I DONT NEED ANY MORE OF THEM.  GIVE ME A RAISE, NOT A ****ING FEATHER FOR MY CAP!

OK, enough ranting monkee.  Feels good now and again though.  Now back to our irregularly scheduled blogcast.
