Yesterday my wife and I had the great joy of taking our 5 year old to his first Major League Baseball game. I think most dads find this as a memorable occasion and it is no different for me. We do have one caveat to our experience. Our son is one of those kids with crazy food allergies. He is allergic to dairy, eggs, and nuts. We actually just ruled out that Kaleb would ever go to a baseball stadium because of the peanut factor. Three years ago a few "allergy moms" went to the Detroit Tigers and asked if they would consider making a peanut free suite for a few games a year. They agreed and we heard about it through the grapevine. We put on our names on the list and three years later we get the call that it is our turn. So yesterday our family was able to act like a normal family and take our kid to a ball game. Angels vs. Tigers. We almost backed out because of our parental fear and I'm so thankful that we didn't . It was super cool watching my kid yell and scream. It was one of those days we will never forget. To top it off on our way home Kaleb asks me if we could play Lego Batman later together, then he fell asleep.
