Hope all of you had a great weekend!
Saturday my wife and I drove up to Ocala to visit my stepdaughter and her boyfriend. It was a pretty good time! They are living in self-imposed exile in order to concentrate on school with no distractions. It seems to be working pretty good...almost too good. Rachel (my stepdaughter) is soooo bored. She has picked up a part time job @ Starbuck's to do something with her time while her boyfriend is in school. Apparently, Ocala is the Horse Capital of the country with more horses than people. I forget the ratio, but it's crazy. They have been making trips to Gainesville, which is a decent college town, so they can party up a bit at placese that don't shut down at 11pm.
I can't believe my stepdaughter is 21. I came on the scene when she was 14, and heading into Highschool. Her mom was pregnant at a very young age, and the biological father split. After that, my wife was married for ten years to a complete fucktard that wanted little to nothing to do with her daughter. So for the most part, I'm pretty much the only father figure she has ever had. I can't say that I've been the greatest dad at times, but I sure as hell try hard. I think the biggest gift I've given her is telling her it's ok to be yourself. You do not have to conform to impress anyone. She is a fantastic kid, and has such a huge heart, almost to the point of giving too much.
In other news, one of my bulldogs has entered her second heat. She's been sleeping a lot, and is uncharacteristically clingy. We have a 'doggie thong' that she has to wear to keep her from spotting on the floor. She is really not impressed with that whole get up, and I can't say that I blame her. She looks like an old washed-up stripper. Everytime I let her ouf of her kennel in the morning I start singing 'Pour some sugar on me' by Def Lepard'. We need to contact the the breeder and have some tests done to see when the best time to impregnate her will be, as well as pick out the stud we want to breed her with. If all goes well, we should have puppies around December or so. I'm just crossing my fingers that the other bulldog (who is a girl as well) doesn't go into heat soon. I don't think we can handle 12 or so pups at once.
If any of you are interested in a pup, please let me know, and I will keep you up-to-date on the progress.
