Been a weird and stressing last couple of weeks.

I'd managed to contract the creeping crud that seems to be sweeping across the country right around Thanksgiving. You've probably had it: chest cold (coughing up all kinds shit from bats to trapped mine workers), stuffy head etc.... this shit will NOT LET GO! So after about a week and a half of my wife bugging me to go to the doctor's I relented and went. Turned out I had developed bronchitis, and had to get some antibiotics. While I was there I told him that during one of my coughing fits I felt a small 'pop' around my abdomen. Yep 3 guesses what that means... you got it, I managed to give myself a hernia. JOY!!!!!! I can cross that off of my x-mas list. Thank You Santa wherever you may be! More about this later.

Anyways, I go to get my prescription filled, and I'm told I can only get half because everyone is needing the same antibiotic. Can you believe that? Luckily I work in Home Health, and one of the account managers was able to snag some samples of the medication for me so I wouldn't have to delay treatment. So fast-forward to now. Still got a slight tickle in my chest that causes me to cough every now and then..this stuff won't let go like an ex-girlfriend that just won't get the hint.

On top of this, I noticed when I'm driving my jeep (automatic) the gears didn't seem to be catching at the appropriate RPM's... Of course, I flip out assuming my transmission is going and am already thinking of the 1500.00 - 1800.00 maintenance bill to get a new transmission installed. All of this happening right around the holidays when $$$$ is really not in abundance.

So, this past Monday I go to the Doctor's and schedule an appointment to have my hernia repaired. This is where the good news starts coming in. My insurance is paying for all but 100.00 of this procedure! Thank god for benefits. After I leave my doctor's I drop the jeep off at the garage and go into work. About halfway through the day, the mechanic calls and tells me that my fuel line popped and he had to replace it and add liquids. Only $121.00. I'm telling you, the mechanic is the only place you can leave feeling good with only having to pay a $100.00 bill. In the end what was looking like around $2500.00 in bills only turned out to be $230.00

I go under the knife on Jan 5th on a Friday, and am hoping to be back to work on the following Tuesday. This procedure is being done via laparoscopic surgery to minimize pain and recovery time. The surgeon asked if I was ok with having a small scar around my belly button. I had to tell him that my runway modeling days were quite far behind me, and I didn't really care.

Oh yeah, and the mother-in-law just flew in for a 3-week visit! I should count my blessings as she was here for 3 MONTHS last year. I took today off as her flight came in late last night and I picked her up, so my wife, who started a new job and couldn't get the time off , wouldn't have to get 4 hours sleep and go off to work.

So, It will be hermit time in the bedroom with the ole' 360... ain't that a shame :^)
