This past Thanksgiving, while visiting my parents, my father was diagnosed with Lymphoma. I made a decision to pack up everything and move down here to help out my mom and dad. My friends who still lived in VA were dwindling, I no longer had a gf and I luckily got to bring my job with me.
Since I have been down here I have spent a significant amount of my time during weekends and afternoons at the hospital. My father has been in for several different reasons (chemo, surgery, more chemo) and I make it a point to visit him while he's stuck in a hospital bed watching TV.
This most recent admission happened on Monday because his white blood cell count was so low it was dangerous. Each visit requires a surgical mask and a good hand washing. The room gets scrubbed and no food is allowed from outside. All of these things are dangerous because they could carry a disease that my father wouldn't be able to fight off.
I have the utmost faith that he will make it through this, but until then I will be making trips to the hospital.
