Seventy-five cents for an Atari was a pretty good deal, even for 1991. Pacman, tank pong, and several other classics were shoved into a brown box along with a few controllers for the lowest bidder. I will never forget the guy who bought it from our family yard sale. He was in his mid to late twenties with brown hair and a girl friend in tow. They were both smiling. Maybe it was their first console too.
"I'll give you fifty cents," he proposed with his woman at this side. I cringed a little harder. I had just finished telling my dad that I would buy it from him if I could keep it. This wasn't about the money. In his opinion, it was taking up valuable space.
"It's a deal." He would have given it up for free.
