http://www.cnn.com/2011/12/13/us/ntsb-cell-phone-ban/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

"Washington (CNN) -- Federal accident investigators Tuesday called for a nationwide ban on the use of cell phones and text messaging devices while driving."

...

Good. You can't trust masses of people to make smart choices on their own and these masses have been especially unruly lately. Matter of fact, please deploy more Predator drones over our nation so we can pre stop the rest of the idiots from making America a haven for terrorism.

I see they are being used for warrants now and local law enforcement can call in Predator drone help in specific areas, amazingly handy and fantastic but I think the scope of it's use can be expanded.

Why stop there? I'm surprised you haven't asked why not ban driving altogether... but then I guess that would make your line of reasoning ridiculous wouldn't it?

As far as cellphones go, ban them. Rather today then tomorrow. Nobody is so important that they have to be on the phone 24/7 and endanger ppl's lives in the process. It's right up there with drunken driving.

We don't need to be policed any more....it is getting to where the law is telling us what we can and can't do. That is not America!!!

I'd love to see a Predator drone take out a car because the driver was on a cellphone. Best if it was a minivan, and the whole family was in it. Darwinism at it's finest ;)

I agree. You'd think the world was unable to function before everyone had a fucking cell phone plastered to their face 24/7. The only people THAT important to need to be reachable 24/7 either ride in limo's or on Air Force 1. HANG UP AND DRIVE!

Yet at the republican debates, the only canidate that tried to make a stand for limiting the powers of the Patriot Act lost his debate. Granted part of that was his delivery, but a big part of it was because the majority really believe that what's being done in the US today under the word 'security' is seen as more importent then freedom by the majority of folks.

Hey, whats one more freedom to do something. It's not like they will take anything else based on precedent.

Let me ask.....how many wrecks have been caused by someone changing the radio staion? Are those outlawed?? Who all has ever had a child throwing a fit in your vehicle or 2 siblings fighting thus causing a distraction?? Are they going to tell us that we can't carry our children in the car next???!!!

To clarify my position. I don't have a problem with a laws limiting txting or even phone calls from mobile phones while driving as annoying as they may be. I do have a problem with US Predator drones spying on US citizens. Any moves towards a police state scare the crap out of me as they should any American citizen.

It should scare them, but it doesn't. That in turn is potentially far scarier than any fascist law.

Slippery Slope arguments are fallacious. And just as a simple reminder - our freedom to do as we please end when those freedoms endanger other citizens. You wanna talk on your cell phone? God Bless you - just don't do it while driving a 2-ton vehicle traveling at 50 mph around MY FAMILY. Get it?

Ah ok, I guess the last thing humans should do is watch out for slippery slopes perpetrated by fellow humans since we have such a good track record at protecting each other. I guess being concerned over Hitler's rise was also fallacious. Funny how it works like that.

@ FlobberWorm....my point was that there are plenty of other things that can get an individual as distracted in the car as being on the phone. That conversation with your wife in the seat next to you.....a distraction. A hands free call being outlawed is rediculous. Vehicles are even equiped with them now.

Perhaps we should also ban makeup, breakfast foods and coffee while driving too. :D Oh but that would upset some people. Awww..
