"V" - The Second Generation?

You all may remember "V" the Miniseries event that could have arguably started it all, with blockbuster miniseries throughout the 1980s.  It came out on NBC in about 1984.

Apparently a follow-up novel by the creator came out a few weeks ago V the Second Generation which takes place 20 years later.  Based on the reviews, it sounds like this is a springboard for a miniseries of its own.

Free Medical Clinic

As many of you know, I'm a family physician.  I've been kicking around in my head about trying to pull together a free medical clinic for my area (rural South Carolina) for the uninsured and underinsured aimed primarily at those with chronic medical disorders - hypertension, diabetes, chronic lung disease.

The bug has really bitten me in the last few days and I've started pulling ideas together trying to see if I can get a proposal together for the powers that be - the local hospital, medical clinics, insurance companies, pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies.

Disgaea 2

Well, in my hunger to play something new, I picked up Disgaea 2. It is amusing and frustrating at the same time.

This is a true Japanese turn-based strategy RPG. I have played Final Fantasy XII (which I haven't completed, but will one day, DAMMIT!). I like the silliness of some of the cut scenes, but then I go into the "item world" and get my head handed to me. Most of my characters are between level 6-8, so I know I am still early in the game and now am in Chapter 3 of 13.

Medical Records Sold as Scrap Paper

In a strange story, a box of medical records that was lost in-transit by UPS ended up being sold as scrap paper.

Kind of weird and definitely not the norm, but still a little worrisome.

The amount of paper generated by my practice daily is staggering and it all goes to the shred company.

Well, sleep well, folks.

Uncharted: Endgame

I finished Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on Saturday night.

I think all told, I got around 200 points/1000 in the scoring system.  Keep in mind I was playing on "Easy" which was challenging enough for me.  I could have struggled through "Normal", or ground my thumbs to a pulp on "Hard", perhaps, but I am playing to enjoy the game, not to frustrate myself endlessly.

The quality of the game was great.  The visuals are stunning.  You can include GREEN in a palette choice, folks!  Something besides grey and brown.  Amazing!

Do Achievements Ruin Games?

http://news.filefront.com/online-achievements-ruin-games/

Kind of an interesting idea.  Since I don't play a lot of online, I was curious what everyone thinks of this.
