Left Behind

Most of my running group is going to a marathon or half-marathon this weekend on the coast.  How sad I feel.  Oh well, guess I will run by lonesome Saturday morning and pretend I am there with them.

Wanna watch a movie?

I saw this yesterday. The price was $350 yesterday, and has bounced back up today.

Diabetes Study

From the AP Wire:
The government abruptly halted aggressive treatment in a major study of diabetes and heart disease after a surprising number of deaths among patients who pushed their blood sugar to super-lows — findings that call into question a growing movement in diabetes care.

9 Miler and Tamiflu

First of all, we have rampant influenza A in my area.  If you or your family has high fever, upper respiratory symptoms, go see your doctor so that you can start your medicine (probably Tamiflu) within 2 days of symptom onset, otherwise the antiviral is useless.

Managed to haul myself out yesterday afternoon on short notice that my wife was going to take the kids to the park in the early afternoon, so I went for a nine mile run.  Felt good to stretch and hurt for that long again.

On-call last night, nothing too terrible to report.

Run.

At about 8:30 PM last night, I had enough. I saw just under thirty patients in the office yesterday. Got home and had some pasta with the wife and kids. Bathed the kids and put them in bed (though they didn't fall asleep until 11:30), and finally at about 8:15, I told my wife I really needed to run.

I love running. It truly is my best "alone time" as I usually leave my pager at home (unless I am on call and then I carry it and the cell phone).

It was cool, probably around 50 degrees. No rain, no cloud cover. Slight breeze.

Oblivion

Bit the bullet after I was standing at the Circuit City on Saturday (and picked up "Rogue Galaxy" for $20) and bought Oblivion GOTY edition as well.

I was on the phone with my wife agonizing about the purchase when she simply said, "What's the point of having a really big TV if you can't play the games you really like on it?"
