no time to build a fucking arc

I left work yesterday at about 5:15/5:20. The rain was torrential. When I drove down our street, the creek was pretty high, but not at street level. We've seen it that high before. No big deal.

Except that the rain wouldn't let up.

About 5:45/5:50, I just happened to look out the back window. Back yard looked like it was flooded. I couldn't tell if the water was coming out of the creek or not. it was enough water to freak me out. When I checked out the front of the house, the creek had come out of its banks and the water was making its way toward our house.

Happy Anniversary... Awh, Fuck You

So today is my sixth anniversary. Six years ago, I stood on the beach in Key West and got married.

If that is not enough of a reason to remember June 1, my house just got flooded. In just less than 35 minutes, the creek down the street from us overflowed its banks and headed for our house. I got the dogs out, the laptops, my 360 and most of my xbox shit; couldn't get the TV out (though I did put it high up on a desk). Here's hoping the water didn't get four feet deep inside...

Spider-man 3: The Review

(and two other movies you don't really care about)

If you’ve frequented this column for any length of time, you know I’m a comic book collector. Marvel fan. I’ve got about an $80 a month comic book habit. Sure, that’s expensive, but it’s better than smoking or drinking, right?

Back when I was a kid, I was into comics for the art. Now I read them for the stories. Lot of good writers in comics these days. Former Hollywood screenplay writers, novelists, journalists.

Unfinished Tales, Vol. 6

Depth of Field

He sat fidgeting with his latte, alternately checking his watch and looking down at the business section of the paper he had read a couple times over. He didn’t notice the noise of the street behind him. He didn’t watch the reflections in the glass of commuters and shoppers on their way to wherever.
