Couple of awesome sandbox's
Just a couple of cool and really promising (especially for sim racing/driving) tech demo's I thought I'd recommend.
BeamNG (Drive)
Just released their tech demo and alpha.
Really good fun to drive (and crash)

Are these sort of like the euro truck simulator where you just drive around in an open world ?
Do they have organized races with tuning etc. ?what cars available ?
Yeah been keeping and eye on these myself, unifying the different physics engines is the thing, that is a shite load of real time processing. But the idea of starting your race weekend by loading your race car into your 18 wheeler, driving that to the race track, parking up, unloading your race car, and then heading out to the track... While in other parts of the same world armed conficts are breaking out so maybe on the way to some races you get caught up in a fire fight, all online and Multiplayer? Now that would be gaming with a capital G. With Flight Sims, Farming Sims Combat Sims, Shipping, Train, and City Sims, I can see a future when all these Sims are in the same Sandbox. The possibilitys and variations of interactions in a online world like that is mind boggling. If powerd at least in part by cloud computing it is possible, but getting all those teams working together? That is not so easy :)
Ha ha, you would have to call the the construction sim folk to clear the track and the hospital sim folk to take away the injured. The worst hurt helicoptered out by the flight sim folk
Better yet, during a race you call up one of your friends in the Apache to help you with overtaking a few cars.gif)
I just got the BeamNG.drive Alpha and it looks very promising! The community are working on some nice cars (911 GT2 looks great!) although I'm having a nightmare getting my CSP's to work, even following the instructions
There's much more content coming, cars, races etc. so will see how it pans out! The damage model is fantastic, very realistic.
I haven't tried this yet but have watched the videos, can anyone confirm that the body damage relate to the physics and effect the cars overall performance?
I dont think it effects it progressively yet mate, but a hefty smash will kill the car though.
