I am very happy with my PS4 so far. I definitely think it is a huge upgrade over my PS3 to this point. The OS is very fast. I really like the feel of the controller so far. I wish I had a different headset though, maybe one more like the stock XBOX headset I used to use.
Was never a huge Sony fan before. My ps3 was mainly used for RPGs and blu rays. I always planned on getting both next gen systems but was more excited about Xbox as I've always been an Xbox gamer. Sony decided to be awesome and give me a free ps4 and all the games and once I saw killzone running on the 60" led I couldn't believe how good it looked. I'm actually kinda nervous for Microsoft now and I never thought I'd say that. I'm definitely looking forward to what Sony does with their beast of a console in the next year.

Dude I worked at my local GS for holiday help last year cause I'm friends with the store manager and she needed someone and I feel for you guys. It is really a thankless job and 75% of the customers are dicks. You guy's deserve this.
Well I finally got my problems with BF4 resolved directly with EA (after threatening them on the phone); but the codes supplied with the game wouldn't work and I payed for the Premium Edition of the game, so deliver the goods.
The guy tells me to re-input them on the Playstation Store, sure enough they all worked, when I got nothing but error messages since the systems launch, and having both Sony & EA point fingers at each other, anyways all is well now!!!!
Finally got my PS4 yesterday... (stupid Best Buy... you suck)
The XMB is great, I really do like it. The Graphics are pretty damn good... to a point. (I'll get to that in a minute)
Resogun is a blast (no pun intended) and the Co-Op is great.
I've had a few crashes since starting up... seems a lot of it is to do with the system doing too much at once.
BF4 was to be installed from the Disc. this got to 54% and then took 20 minutes to get to 56% and then it just stopped working period. As though the disc itself could not be read. Attempts to eject the disc failed. and the system needed to be restarted. (This lead to a safe mode start, and then a warning about powering off the system through the XMB)
Later on, I experienced another issue when I had ~ 5 store downloads going between Blacklight: Retribution, Warframe, Contrast and some others. I also had party chat under way, and with all of that I had been flipping back and forth between the XMB and the games... Then it just locked up. Chat still worked, but I couldn't use the controller for any functions within the XMB, nothing was happening.
This required a restart of the device, but it would not shut down after pressing the "power" button. Thus, requiring a plug pull.
Once that was done, the system started back up into Safe Mode to check the hard drive / file system and then presented a warning about unplugging it without powering it down first from the XMB.... (whatever!)
Overall the experience I've had w/ my PS4 has been "OK" at best as a results.
regarding BF4... and the 'graphics' point I made above.
Perhaps it's my getting used to everything, but I my 32" TV might be too small to enjoy the 60fps and 1080p quality. BF4 was buggy and crashed numerous times while attempting to play (not the fault of Sony or the PS4 itself). I found myself getting lost trying to focus on things in the distance, and get this weird feeling with the way things look... almost as thought it's truly "fake". In some ways, I think BF3 looked better, but again... perhaps this is getting used to the look, higher quality and needing a bigger TV. The only real way I can describe it is "weird".
I'm surprised how much time I've been spending watching game streams. Watching a shooter is kind of "meh," but I find watching somebody play FIFA or Madden or NBA 2K14 is really fun, especially if the player is any good. Maybe that's because I love to watch sports but find sports games to be completely befuddling. I've found myself several times starting up the console and thinking I'll just check out what's happening on the streams for a minute or two and then jump into some MP and then ending up watching a fantasy soccer match for 45 minutes.
I have to say. The system needs to do something with friends lists. It's going to be out of control scrolling through a large list. It needs to be somehow organized or something.

You actually can use your phone (and probably tablet) as a keyboard. I have an android phone and downloaded the PS app. Just go into the app and link to your ps4 and you can use it as a keyboard. I'm assuming you can do this with a tablet too but I haven't tried it. You do have to link it with your PS4 every time you open the app i think but it does work.
I can't say I've noticed the lightbar reflection. Just throw a piece of tape over it. I imagine somebody is going to make some cash offering a ps4 skin package including the lightbar.

I'm thinking of taking some window tint and "dulling" down the light bar. Love it on NFS. It glows blue if you're the cops and red if you're a racer... pretty neat. This being my 2nd weekend with it I'm more than pleased. Everything seems more stable and ease of use has increased. I plopped in Arkham Origins yesterday and I've been spoiled by the 4's graphic/detail quality. It's the little things that I notice now ie. shading, particle effects... ya know the little details that go un-noticed until you're missing them. Anyway, I'm really happy with it and glad I didn't get a Xbone this time around. PS4 is a gaming machine and does what it's supposed to really, really well.
LOL, I read about that Playroom stuff the other night. I think a future update will include a a"report user" button (if there isn't one already) while viewing a live stream. I can't see Sony removing the entire streaming ability after how much they talked about it and made it a key selling point.
I can see them removing playroom from streaming. Last night people were doing the stupidest shit streaming playroom. Something is going to be done about it.
Anyway, I don't think the Streaming to Twitch will stop, I think it'll just have to be better managed.
I have a notice up on my twitch account that specifically indicates mature content. I swear. A LOT. I say mean things, I'm generally an asshole.
There are people trying to make "web shows" on PlayStation Live as well... This is pure silliness.
From some couple taking phone calls talking about nothing (no, it's not like Seinfeld... at all) to some large black man wearing a Crown telling people to watch more of him on PSL because he's the King to just random people sitting there blankly staring back at you or watching TV... so you can watch them, watch tv... great times... great times.
I've had a few issues since the launch of the latest patch where the system goes to sleep when you power it off, and then doesn't want to turn back on(or off) correctly... HDMI switches to "audio" only... or 480p... and flashes back and forth between snow and black. I had to power off the device entirely by unplugging it from the wall and putting it to a different HDMI port on the TV. (The other port still works fine... so I'm blaming the PS4)
Short of that... my only complaints result from the actual games not the system itself.
I'm not overly impressed with BF4 and as of yet, i can't enjoy the parts of that franchise that I like... tanks and choppers... I don't feel like running around COD style waiting for some camping tard to shoot me in the back while I'm playing Battlefield... it's not right.
Ghosts, well... my only REAL (i have a lot of you play w/ me) complaints there are the terrible spawn points and the Dogs... Spawns truly could NOT be any worse. They're not only Random, but they're so bad they'll spawn you 5 feet in the firing line of opposing team, or literally beside an enemy player. There's no Spawning w/ teammates really... There's no "flips" it's just die, respawn die... And then there's the dogs... man, these little buggers are ridiculously over powered and they're available way too earlier in the killstreak category (5 kills).
Really tempted to return both games... really, really tempted.
So far so good. Had an issue day 2 logging into PSN and the getting into the PS4 period. But reported the issue, it went back restarted and everything has been fine since. The light on the controller does not bug me. I actually like when it changes color if you die, etc.... The graphics are great on KZ Shadow Fall. I am playing on a 50" tv and it looks stunning. The downloads take a fraction of the time that they used to take. Resogun is addictive if you have not played it yet. Lots of fun. I haven't made it too far yet though. Look me up if you have KZ. The rubber coating on one of my analog sticks seems to be coming apart. Anyone else having issues with this?
