I thought we was dead
But nope just done the STCC and we had 15 drivers in a room. yes 15!!!
Personaly this is the most I have seen for over 2 - 3 months now.
So what can we do to help?
Personally I think we have to many event on to many nights. What if we limit the ammount of events per game too 2 each (FM5, FM4, GT6) total 6 Offical events per week.
If someone wants to do an event maybe we could just have an holding que?
Also if we did limit the events what days and times would host what?
Obviously there are better times and days so why dont we put a line though bad days like Monday and Friday?
Lets discuss :)
Had a blast tonight and raced with a lot of people I havent seen for a long time!!
Kind of feels that way. We're split between too many games. Some still play FM4 and dont have or aren't getting an Xbox One yet, some play FM5 and don't play 4 anymore, some switched to GT6... Where we all used to play FM4 we're now heavily divided.
Some people can only get on at certain times I don't think we have the right to tell or limit people to what they have to play.
There are a lot of series but the more choice the better. I will run on forza again when there is something that interests me.
The other problem is what format get what nights
Let it work itself out.
Just as an example:
I'm working a career at iRacing. Trying to get my C license and safety rating up.
I am hosting the Mazda Touring Car series in GT6. It runs on Sundays at noon.
I am trying to get an "Intro to Forza and 2O4F" weekly lobby going in FM4 for newer and slower drivers. A place where drivers can experiment and work on basics.
Built up a good garage and thinking about doing a Miata cup with a D class car.
Probably going to run in Motorhead's 70's Gran Prix car series in FM5.
It's fortunate that we have so much to choose from. I just wish more drivers would step out of their comfort zone and race in a series they might not otherwise run. Participation begets more participation so bare that in mind. No matter the cars or rules in a series, more drivers usually means more fun!
Also, I've been getting back to FM4 lately and it has struck me how good of a game it is. The car library is sick. It's only downfall is that after playing it for nearly two years straight the tracks get redundant. Taking a break from it did me well so I'll probably be spending more time with it.
The last thing I want to put out there is this. I would love to do more but to be honest, I need help. I need one or two people that can help me test the shit out of cars and critique the tunes. Usually when I put this out I get no response. I know why: people are working on their own series or prepping for something they are running. There is a lot of work into what we all are doing individually. Believe me, I know it and can appreciate it. Maybe the solution to some of our issues here is to form more collaborative efforts in planning and executing events. I personally don't mind testing and painting cars for a series I'm not able to run (due to RL time constraints) as long as I get in a practice/test race here and there. Anyway, just an idea. Don't anyone take my comments in the wrong way. I've raced in serious and casually lobbies with most of you and it's always a good time.
Yeah that brake for a few weeks has really helped me!
I am getting the buzz back big time from racing hard!
I also have a new idea for a series I want to run after the STCC. Wont have the normal H/C but will be a case of me giving or taking away BHP from cars based on a drivers fastest laps over the past 3 races.
This should remove the Room A and B divided and make any car competitive.
I'm actually torn on this. I have been hosting at least 1-2 events every week for nearly a year now and have enjoyed it. Since moving to gt6 due to the 360 dying, my interest in race formats have changed away from what the majority would prefer to participate in here so I've joined three series over at gt planet and although I'll still be around to help out with various admin stuff I can only see myself participating 1-2 events here and that includes any races on fm4 if I get my 360 fixed.
I do hope to see some growth in all three platforms to help build up the club again.
The one problem I see is the amount of choices in racing games. That can't be helped. What I've always personally felt was an issue is the lack of interest in series involving different formats. Example: multi class, lower classes, full on race cars, longer events, classic cars. It seemed at times that we were running the same types of events. Again, it's personal preference so it can't be helped either but it's something to think about. Supporting each other's events is an important part of this club. Anyway, I have some ideas and I'm looking to collaborate and test here and there. Someone interned? PM with your availability.
