DEEP - DIM and TG have tools to help you set up higher tier builds (e.g. T5 Intellect T4 Discipline T2 Strength), but it's not as simple as saying "I want 300 Int and Disc". Your gear might not be able to do that.
I've been playing around with these tools and now have T12 builds possible on my Warlock and T11's on the others. It's useful for setting up your toons for Challenge of Elders or for your particular play style (e.g I always want T5 Intellect on my Titan, but I want T5 Discipline for my Hunter in PVP). On the margin though, you might be better off equipping armor sets that have the perks you need for the task at hand and/or the weapons you're running, IMO.
Do any of the managers handle more than one ability maximization? I.E. Set Intellect and Dicipline to 300.
The Bungie item manager will maximize one attribute but it will not stop at or near 300. It sets to absolute maximum. So ridiculous.

Hope that helps.
