Today Microsoft released an update to the Xbox 360 retail sales figures and future forcast for this fiscal year. Impressive numbers they're posting and boasting...
A consumer will own 4.6 games for their Xbox 360 (statistics - nobody owns 0.6 of a game). Not only are consumers buying games for this console, they're buying accessories as well. A consumer will own 2.9 accessories for their xbox 360 console. This is the highest accessory attach rate, nine months into the 360's life, for any console since launch in the United States.
By holiday season 2006, Microsoft plans to ship over 10 million of their next-generation console and a total of 160 games to play on it. By the end of the fiscal year (June 2007) they want to see 13 to 15 million consoles across the world in the laps of eager gamers.
Xbox 360 has four of the top ten selling game titles on all consoles:
Thinking about buying a console this holiday season? Perhaps the momentum will be with Microsoft and its large set of accessories, games, and supported 3rd party publishers.
That's a tough act to follow for Sony and Nintendo.
