A development studio receives a mysterious package: Wii development kit. For free?
Rumor has it that a small software development firm recieved a mysterious package in the mail from Nintendo. Nobody in the company was aware of how it arrived, but inside was a Wii developement kit.
A shipping mistake that just happened to land at the doorstep of a small development studio or is Nintendo sending out complementary kits to give developers a chance to work on their console for minimal costs?
Now, typically a single development kit isn't going to be enough to finish a product, but its enough to get the R&D team working with it, familiar with the subsystems and start thinking in the ways of Wii. After this, it wouldn't be too much work to get a few more in house and start writing 3rd party games for a system that is almost all blockbuster platformers.
Although nothing is 100% confirmed, it does raise a few eyebrows. What better way to get developers working on your platform then handing them costly developer kits to screw around with? Maybe accidently make a game that's fun!
