EA spokesperson says Wii games won't cost more than US $49.99 at the launch. Good move, will others follow?
Most know the Wii will not attempt to compete, graphically, against the other 7th generation consoles so prices should be less. The value behind the Wii should be the lower console price, the library of fun and exciting games and and the cost of games themselves.
EA announced that they are ramping up game production for the Wii and DS Lite products and announcing this lower price per game builds a foundation for others. For games to be competitive they will have to be competitively priced. If EA is going the route of $49.99 (lets be honest: $50 bucks) other publishers should fall in line.
This should help keep the Wii competitive in a market of big ("high priced") console powerhouses.
