I've searched high and low to validate this product pre-release. A few retail outlets have stub place-holders for an Xbox 360 Premium HDMI cable.
Many people around the Net are asking "how?" this is possible. Some tech geeks are saying that the ATI chipset used in the Xbox 360 is fully capable of the deed.
The greater question is about the console itself. Can the output adapter on the Xbox 360 handle an HDMI output cable if designed for the Xbox 360 input? Or, will a new SKU arrive that has an HDMI port?
Rumors around the web show a blurry image of the 360 console with an HDMI adapter but nobody knows if this is a real prototype or just a spoof. So why does GameStop/Ebgames and Lik-Sang have stubs for this product?
Check them out for yourself:
Lik-Sang
EbGames
First, please notice that Lik-Sang is listing this as a Microsoft official HDMI cable while Ebgames is listing theirs as a "GameStop Universal Premium HDMI cable" (platform: 360). Also note: Lik-Sang broke the story about the Nintendo DS Lite design before anyone else knew it existed, they're information tends to be fairly accurate.
While Sony is talking HDMI for their high-end product line Microsoft is stealth about their HDMI capabilities...? Is this perhaps a ninja tactic? or just random internet rumors gone wild?
Thanks TANK for this information
