The entire console market had a poor week of sales in Japan, not just the PlayStation 3 but it did the worse of the three.
Roughly 128,274 units of "now-generation" systems were sold in Japan last week. Those numbers pale in comparison to the holiday figures by a large amount. Nintendo had its second worst week selling 93,708 units - still far exceeding the Sony brand.
Of course, Microsoft's Xbox 360 sales figures were not too impressive at 9,035 units sold. Perhaps everyone already owns "Blue Dragon" that really wanted it by now. The system has been in Japan for a lot longer than the Wii or PS3 so sales shouldn't be exceedingly high (especially for Microsoft).
Will the low sales pattern continue or will gamers start picking up the expensive PS3 console?
