To combat Japan's need for Nintendo Wii's and Sony PS3's Microsoft has produced their first weapon to combat the "ho hum" sales figures: Blue Dragon.
"Blue Dragon is an RPG for the Xbox 360 video game console. It is being developed by Artoon based on a design by Final Fantasy series originator Hironobu Sakaguchi, who is also supervising development. Microsoft hopes this game's release will be a great boom to Xbox 360 sales in Japan, as it will be one of the first traditional Japanese RPGs to come to Microsoft's Xbox 360 system." --wikipedia.org
This new release is very important for Microsoft's stand in Japan because Japanese do not find the western Xbox 360 titles interesting. In the coming days we'll probably see more reports on the sales of the title as more Japanese gamers head out to pick it up.
The trick? Console sales are very slim in Japan - gamers will have to buy the console and the game. To combat this problem Japanese gamers can buy "bundles" that contain Blue Dragon and the console itself.
If Microsoft is successful with this title you can be sure more titles will hit the streets of Japan as soon as possible. Is it too late for Microsoft to start this battle considering development time for hit Japanese-style titles? Did they learn nothing from the battle scares with their classic Xbox product line?
