Mad Catz Interactive have finally got their retro arcade stick called the GameStick out the door and on it's way to retailers nation wide.
Thanks to collaboration with Konami and ProCaps Games, the GameStick will come bundled with three Xbox Live Arcade games : Frogger, Time Pilot and Astropop. An Xbox Live Gold trial membership is also bundled with this product so you can play those games online with friends.
Some of us are not fans of the bundling products to up the price. USD $60 bucks for this is way too expensive, in our opinion. Many of us already own the three arcade games bundled inside this package and now we're forced to purchase them a second time.
How about the stick itself, stand-alone, without any filler for USD $39.99? It's a wired controller so it certainly shouldn't command a wireless price!
"Our launch of the Arcade GameStick is consistent with our strategy of developing new revenue streams from video game software bundled with a unique controller," said Darren Richardson, President and CEO of Mad Catz. "Retro-arcade games are a hot market segment, especially on Xbox 360 Live Arcade, and this officially licensed Xbox 360 Arcade GameStick is the answer for anyone that values the control and finesse that only a real joystick can provide."It's no secret that most if not all the Classic Xbox Live Arcade games control like crap on the Xbox 360's mushy D-Pad or thumb sticks. The retro gaming genre needs a stiff arcade stick to make those games control properly. One can only hope that Mad Catz has delivered with the GameStick. For USD $59.99, the cost of a full retail game, gamers are going to expect it to!
