Microsoft may soon announce that a Halo 3 demo will be available in the first half of next year.
Though Game Informer is categorizing the information as a rumor, they seem confident in their sources and their main concern is regarding the cost of the demo. Will the demo be free or will the consumer pay for it?
At this point there's no further information on what type of demo it could be, when it would be released and if there will be a charge. However, Game Informer believes the announcement could come as soon as mid-November as a distraction to the Wii & PS3 launches. With Microsoft already planning to release an embargo on magazine multiplayer impressions and screen shots in November, could a demo announcement be in the cards as well?
While most would agree that a demo would be nice, could there be other ramifications to the announcement? Would that mean that the actual game release would be pushed back into late 2007 and a demo would serve to whet gamer's appetites so they don't jump ship to the PS3 & Wii? Could the demo be a multi-player only beta, that would both increase Xbox LIVE membership numbers as well as allowing Bungie to test & work on their next-gen matchmaking & netcode? What are your thoughts?
