Great classic games continue to invade our gaming senses with the advent of Xbox Live Arcade, Wii Virtual Console and Sony’s downloadable content.
We’ll fall sucker to a $5.00 game that we played when we were twelve just to relive the experience if only for a few minutes.
The difference? As arstechnica reports, the game controls and features are not always true to the original. They’ve pointed out a few examples of unfaithful retro reproductions in Mario Kart 64, Kid Icarus, Starfox 64, Frogger, Contra and that beautiful D-Pad control scheme.
The controls are not always perfect the games work, display well on a higher definition (non-1980’s display) and continue to be a joy to play. We just have to remember, we’re not in the 80’s anymore - it may be time to move on. What do you think?
