Dance Dance Revolution In School?

Your school system have a lot of obese children? Perhaps you can do what West Virginia Public Schools are doing?

Reuters reports that West Virginia, which has the worst childhood obesity problem in the United States, is going forth with their plan to use "Dance Dance Revolution" to fight the fat.

"Preliminary results from a 24-week study of 50 overweight or obese children, aged 7 to 12, showed that those who played the game at home for at least 30 minutes five days per week maintained their weight and saw a reduction in some risk factors for heart disease and diabetes."

The public schools plan to invest in Konami's game as an after-school alternative to sports. If such a movement takes off and is mimicked through other school perhaps other companies will invest in movement-related games.

Perhaps the Nintendo Wii would fit good in this type of sports-alternative. Although real sports cannot be fully substituted for games. Yes kids, get out there and play. It's nice out, go outside!
