David Jaffe, well known for the God of War series has left Sony to create his own independent development group known as Eat Sleep Play.
David Jaffe blogged about his life changing event leaving Sony to head up his own firm with Incognito founder Scott Campbell.
He's signed an exclusive 3-game deal with Sony to produce some hand-held and console games for their platforms. This makes sense given his deep 15-year history with the big company.
“We met with some other interested parties,” Jaffe wrote, “but at the end of the day, Sony is our home, our family, and we’re really thrilled and honored they wanted to work with us and continue the relationship we’ve spent almost 15 years cultivating.”
So, why leave Sony to work directly with Sony? Our guess is a bit more creative control, a change of atmosphere and an instant deal with your prior company. Starting a new company can be tough, it sure doesn't hurt to have a signed deal for three game titles before you've even quit your current job.
