There is a lot of news running around the net in rumor form, about Halo 3 and some of the upcoming features. Especially offline co-op mode...
The fire raging the web about Halo 3 is this concept of no online co-op mode along with other halo 3 rumors.
The fact is, Bungie hasn't said anything positive or negative about a co-op feature. This feature is something new to them (and many game developers) and has become the "thing to have" in a multi-player gaming environment lately.
Jeremy Parish, at 1up, is working to clear up some of this confusion.
I'm sure there are NDA's in the works to hold people's flapping lips, but if the concept of no offline co-op mode continues to grow on the Net we may end up with a downward spiral of negative press.
But can negative press release stop the power that is Halo 3?

Bungie hasn’t actually denied or ruled out online co-op in Halo 3. What the developers — Frank O’Connor in particular — did say is that they’re still working on it. They’re trying to surmount the technical challenges that are preventing co-op from being as polished as the rest of the game. They know people want it. They want to add it. But as of our interview with them, a month ago, it hadn’t come together yet in a satisfactory manner. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen, and in fact they’d like to make it happen. But they won’t include a half-baked implementation. What Jeremy wants to do, given his inside information, is clear up some of this confusion. And, "he's obviously frustrated over the whole mess, especially how the online co-op details have been so blown out of proportion." The problem is, we don't yet know how he, as a journalist, plans to 'clear it up.'
