New Line has purchased the rights to produce a movie based on Gears of War. Stuart Beattie will be doing the writing with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey doing the producing under Temple Hill.
Gears of War which launched in November 06 has become the 4th best selling video game of 2006. It was also the first Xbox Live enabled game to kick Halo 2 off the #1 spot which it’s held for years.
With a fan base as large as Gears of War, millions of gamers will cross their fingers that this game makes it to the big screen. Unlike the Halo movie project being done by Peter Jackson that’s been derailed due to the studio’s backing out of producing the movie.
With a movie in the works and a best selling video game, one has to wonder when the action figures and underoos will become available.
