Vivendi Rides The WoW Wave To 69 Percent

Blizzard pushed out their press release showing off the power of World of Warcraft, now Vivendi sees happiness as well. Vivendi issues their financial report and showed off its great 6% growth as a company in the first half of 2007. The surprising news, their games division is up 69% from this time last year.

How did Vivendi pull these crazy stats? No, not a purple drop or a tier 20 armor... they're the folks behind Blizzard and Burning Crusade! Back in 1998 Blizzard fell into the hands of Vivendi but back then they couldn't have guessed it would boost the companies financial goals well past expectations.
"Vivendi Games racked up 500 million euros ($685.8 million) in revenue, nearly 69 percent more than it managed over the same time frame last year."
Unfortunately, Vivendi Games is their smallest division so the huge growth didn't do much for the company as a whole.

Imagine if Blizzard released an expansion every year? It would be a license to print money.
