This Week’s New Releases: November 12 - November 17

Another week in the holiday gaming season means more broken bank accounts and pissed off spouses, as well as some of the biggest releases of the year.

This week is sure to please all of the Nintendo fanboys out there, as Super Mario Galaxy finally ships to retail. Mario’s latest adventure is already being touted as one of the better games in the franchise, drawing strong parallels to SMB3 and Super Mario 64’s level of quality. With an outstanding MetaCritic rating of 97/100 and several “perfect” scores, this looks like one you won’t want to miss. If you’re lucky, you may be able to pick it up sometime today, but the general consensus at most stores is that it’ll be available on Tuesday.

Another highly anticipated title, Assassin’s Creed finally ships on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. While public opinion on hype and quality of Creed has been on quite a roller coaster ride, it has all of the potential to be the industry’s next big hit franchise with a puzzling story and a killer gameplay premise.

Oh, remember when we said “some of the biggest releases?” Yeah, that might have been an understatement. Check out the full console lineup after the break.
