Peak Products showed off their guitar controllers at Digital Life yesterday, and they were sights to behold. If you are tired of the light, plastic toys that come with Guitar Hero III and Rock Band, and want something that has the look at feel of a real guitar, check out their website.
For starters, they’re real wood finish, and are fairly weighty. While the Peak reps stated that they’re lighter than a real electric guitar, these babies are far heavier than the plastic controllers. They’re also life-sized, so you don’t have the strain of being an adult contorting to play a small controller, even if the Rock Band controlleris fairly large. There are two sets of frets one low and the other high, and a nice fluid-but-stiff strummer. Oh, and did I mention they’re wireless? They come in a varieties of colors as well.
The downside is the MSRP is $179.99, though if you handle one, you’ll see why its pricey. These are the Rolls Royces of guitar controllers.
The guitars are available from their site, and are currently hitting retail stores as well. They’re currently for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3. The Wii controller is coming later in the year, and as for the Xbox 360 version, they’re still negotiating with Microsoft.
