I know I have said it before but I am loving Game Pass on the Xbox right now. I feel the need to apologize my PS people out there as I am not aware if there is a similar program in place on your system of choice. If there is great! If not, well I hope you get one soon. The last couple of weeks I tried out Cris Tales (beautiful game but it didn't click with me), The Ascent (even on Easy its a difficult twin stick action RPG but this one I am enjoying) and Hades. Out of the three, Hades is probably the most aggravating for an old ass gamer like myself. I guess you could call it an action RPG near infinite runner...? If you haven't played it I highly recommenced it. The visuals, the gameplay, the mechanics, the premise are all top notch. The best for me, however, is the dialog. The cast is fantastic and the little bits of humor sprinkled throughout this Greek god story...well...its just so good. I think that's why after a couple hundred times dying and starting over and still not beating Meg, I want to try again. It's so good.
However, those were previous weeks new releases. Let see what we have coming up this week!
Madden NFL 22
Release Date: August 20th, 2021
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, XBX/S
Do I need to write a preamble for this?!?!? Really? It's Madden! Actually I want to ask you a question about the box art. Do you think Brady and Mahomes actually sat like that on the bench? I mean next to each other? Or do you think they were photoshopped together? I am willing to bet the latter is more likely. How about you?
RiMS Racing
Release Date: August 19th, 2021
Platforms: PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, XSX/S
I used to own a couple "crotch rockets" back in the day. A Kawasaki Ninja 250 was my first one. Great fun, just don't pass a semi on the highway with it without leaning into the oncoming wind. The other was a Suzuki RGR500, a 500cc 2-stroke engine with a 14k redline. The power band ran from around 4k up to 11k. That thing went like fuck! Back then I was into motorcycle racing (watching- not doing). I even tried playing motorcycle racing games to scratch the racing itch. I am terrible at those games which probably saved me a boat load of cash and maybe even my life. I hear bikes screaming by every now and then and long for one for a second or two but then look over at Mrs-Soup and my two girls...and yeah...I'm good.
12 Minutes
Release Date: August 19th, 2021
Platforms: PC, XBOX One, XSX/S
This is an interesting title sporting the voice talents of Daisey Ridley, Willem Dafoe, and James McAvoy. 12 Minutes is an interactive thriller/whodunit that, like the title suggests, starts over every 12 minutes. Apparently (not passing judgment here!), your wife is suspected of 1st degree murder and taken away. So now you get 12 whole minutes to clear her name...until it starts over. At that point you get to make some different choices to hopefully clear your wife's name. I am assuming telling your wife NOT to murder someone is not one of the choices here as that would make it a pretty short game! This one is on Game Pass so I am going to give it a try!
Honorable mentions for the week.
