New Releases: Week of December 1st, 2019

Are you still suffering from a turkey coma? Did you buy anything on Black Friday? Can you believe it is December already? I honestly don't know what happened from September until now. It was all a blur for me as it felt we were super busy around the House o' Soup and we didn't have much time to relax.

Beyond that what actually just hit me was that this is the last holiday season with this generations Console Hardware. The PC Master race may scoff but they upgrade their video cards continually which, depending on what you get, can cost almost 2x the cost of a new system. I am still rocking my 105TI and happy as a clam. I don't need 120fps, I really don't. My eyes are getting old and I can barely tell the difference between 30 and 60. What does that have to do with this weeks new games? Well read on and you may find out!

Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition
Release Date:
December 3rd, 2019
Platforms: PS4, Switch, Xbox One

Seventeen years after releasing on PC, Neverwinter Nights finds its way onto console. Travel back into time when Bioware was still an up and coming studio but one making a name for itself in the RPG space. Neverwinter Nights was a hit and a great game..seventeen years ago. I hope this is not a case of rose colored glasses as while it may look dated it was a great game to play back then.

Terminator: Resistance
Release Date:
December 3rd, 2019
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One

If you are thinking, hey this looks like a quick cheap tie-in to a Terminator movie. You are probably right. If you are also thinking that the only good Terminator game was in the arcades, again you are probably right. From what I can tell, wait till this game goes for free on PS Plus, or Xbox Games with Gold, you likely won't feel too bad not finishing it and deleting it.

Halo Reach
Release Date:
December 3rd, 2019
Platforms: PC

Even video games get prequels sometimes. Some are good, some are bad and some are Halo Reach! Microsoft and 343 seem to be releasing the Master Chief collection on PC chronologically starting with the excellent Halo Reach. Reach is the planet where the Covenant first invaded. You are part of a team of Marines trying to fight them off. You do not play Master Chief himself but Reach sets up the story for Combat Evolved. If I can be so bold to make suggestion here, forget all the other games releasing this week and play Halo Reach.

Darksiders Genesis
Release Date:
December 5th, 2019
Platforms: PC, Stadia

Did you pick up a Stadia? Are you happy with it? Did you hit your data cap 2 or 3 days in? Did you find your unlimited data didn't truly mean unlimited? Are you anxiously awaiting Diablo 4? If you answered yes to all of those or just on a PC and waiting to play an Action RPG then Darksiders: Genesis may give you the fix you are looking for. PS. You get to thumb your nose at the console players who have to wait until February.
