February is not a month anyone from New England looks forward to. It's full of snow and "holidays" that are more about selling cars and cards than anything else. At least this year it does seem to be a pretty good month for video game releases. This week has one of my favs from E3 dropping and an adventure game I somehow missed, created by some ex-Telltale developers!
Arslan: The Warriors of Legend
Release Date: February 9, 2016
Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, XBOne
Released in Japan last fall, this one is making its way to North America this week. It's an RPG based on a series of anime novels.
Assassin's Creed Chronicles Russia & Assassin's Creed Trilogy Pack
Release Date: February 9, 2016
Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4, XBOne
I think there’s been a new Assassin’s Creed game pretty much every time I’ve been on new releases for like the last 6 months. This one completes this trilogy since you can now pick them up as a pack. I think the tagline for this one is “In Communist Russia Assassin’s Creed you!” Or something like that...
Dying Light: The Following
Release Date: February 9, 2016
Platforms: PC, PS4, XBOne
This is a standalone expansion for the survival horror game. More parkour, zombies and cults!
Firewatch
Release Date: February 9, 2016
Platforms: PC, PS4
This is a first person adventure set in the aftermath of the Yellowstone National Park fires in the late 1980s. You play a fire lookout “alone” in the park investigating mysterious happenings communicating with your supervisor via walkie-talkie. Its from new studio Camp Santo which is comprised of several Telltale Games alumni. I’m hoping the reason they left Telltale is so they could put some game play back into adventure games instead of just gut wrenching dialog choices that influence the story outcome followed by some cut scenes. I added it to my wishlist on Steam.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
Release Date: February 9, 2016
Platforms: PC, PS4, XBOne
When I first read the description of the game (manning a space station and trying to save cute creatures) it sounded a lot like Shay’s levels in Broken Age. Its got neat art and looks like fun if you are into action platform games.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4
Release Date: February 9, 2016
Platforms: PS4, XBOne, PC
This is the sixth (cuz math!) and supposedly final game in the fighting franchise. Wall running and battle arenas are back.
Unravel
Release Date: February 9, 2016
Platforms: PS4, XBOne, PC
This was the game I was most excited for out of EA’s E3 press conference as the creator was the only person they had on stage that I didn’t immediately feel like I needed to shower after listening to. You play as Yarny a cute little explorer who can use his yarn body to manipulate the environment and solve puzzles. If nothing else this one will be visually stunning
Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final
Release Date: February 10, 2016
Platforms: 3DS
Someone is indeed still making games for the 3DS. This is another “Final Four” (don’t these companies know that’s March not February) in a Japanese RPG series.
Valkyria Chronicles Remaster

Platforms: PS4
This is a remaster of a 2008 PS3 tactical RPG updated for the PS4.
