So one of the drawbacks of getting older is finding lumps where there should be lumps. Luckily this lump was just a lipoma (an Adipose as my wife calls it - 10 pts for anyone who can tell me what that's from!) and on Wednesday I went in and had it removed. I wrongly figured I would be in and out and then I took the day on Thursday just in case. Maybe if I was 25 again that would have been worked out but another drawback of getting older I found out is you don't heal nearly as fast as you once used to. So while i had plans to spend all of Thursday gaming I could barely sit or stand for long enough to actually complete any real progress in anything. I was rather disappointed. Today, Sunday, is a much better day and I managed to carve out some decent game time but my backlog keeps growing and Game Pass and Games with Gold ain't helping!
Lets take a look at what could be tempting me this week shall we?
Journey to the Savage Planet
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One
Release Date: January 28th, 2020
An adventure game by Typhoon Studios and published by Epic, Journey to the Savage Planet sees you and possibly a friend travel to distant unknown worlds and explore them. I am sure there are monsters and crafting and shenanigans galore! If you finished the Outer Worlds in that 3 hour speed run and want a new "challenge" then Journey to the Savage Planet may just be it
Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition
Platforms: PS4, Switch, Xbox One
Release Date: January 28th, 2020
Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition sounded to me like a rip off of Kentucky Fried Movie when i read the title. I was not expecting a stylized, moody point and click adventure game. I suggest if you like point and click adventures take your mouse to the YouTube link below and watch the trailer.
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One
Release Date: January 28th, 2020
Pillars of Eternity II is a sequel to Obsidians Pillars of Eternity released back in 2015. The Steam version of Deadfire was released back in May of 2018. Chances are if you played and enjoyed the original you will enjoy Deadfire. Did I forget to mention that Deadfire contains all the available DLC?
Warcraft III:Reforged
Platforms: Mac, PC
Release Date: January 28th, 2020
I remember seeing the trailer for Warcraft III, likely on a PC gamer packed in Cd-rom, and not believing my eyes. What Blizzard could do in cinematics even back then was truly amazing. It sent chills down my spine and I couldn't wait to play. I distinctly remember that feeling as I watched the reforged trailer but this time I am not so stoked. Why you ask? I love Blizzard but lately I can really feel Activision's Sequelitus / Remasteredvirus all over this. I get Overwatch was new IP and I applaud that but when are we going to get a new single player IP out of Blizzard and not just "Hey I bet we can get people to buy this same game again and again and again!" thing Activision is known for.
Hypercharge: Unboxed
Platforms: PC, Switch
Release Date: January 31st, 2020
I have watched this trailer a couple times now. I think I am going tolabel Hypercharge:Unboxed a First Person Shooter Tower Defense game set in a Toy Story-esque universe. Yup, that adequately sums it up. I'm just going to leave it at that!
