Happy New Year! From all of us at 2old2play.com we hope you had a great holiday and are looking forward to brand new year! Two thousand and sixteen is shaping up to be a pretty decent year in games. This year we can look forward to games like The Division, Crackdown 3, Cuphead, Mass Effect, Overwatch, ReCore, No Man's Sky, Mirror's Edge, Dues Ex, Doom, Far Cry Primal along with the WAAAAAYYYY delayed The Last Guardian. Of course those are just some of what we are expecting to be released this year but if history serves a few of those may fall into 2017.
You can always bet on the yearly iterations of games such as Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed and numerous sports titles will help shepard in the last quarter of the year to either overwhelm us with gaming goodness or fill in the time before the one game you were dying to play is released.
Typically from the last two weeks of the previous year to almost the second quarter of the new year the game release calendar is a barren desert. 2016 isn't looking much different but there are a couple high profile releases slated for Q1. I am not holding my breath but at least the lag in games gives some of us a chance to play those games we received over the holidays or maybe catch up on our backlog.
Let us know in the comments below which games you are looking most forward to in 2016!
As for new releases this week...well...remember my desert comment above? If you are a PS4 or Vita owner there are a couple you may want to check out but that's it. Nothing for any other platform until next week.
Amplitude
Platform: PS4
Release Date: January 5th, 2016

Yes this is the same music video game from the PS2 but now with the PS4's WAY backwards compatibility (why no PS3 back compat Sony?) you can play it again...13 years later. If you have ever played Audiosurf on Steam this is pretty much the same thing.
Hardware:Rivals
Platform: PS4
Release Date: January 5th, 2016
While not a back compat game Hardware: Rivals is the direct successor to Hardware: Online Arena for the PS2. Its an online multiplayer vehicle combat game and looks like it could be a fun drop in and drop out kind of game.
Volume
Platform: Vita
Release Date: January 5th, 2016
Volume is an isometric stealth based video game already released on Wiindows, OSX and the PS4 back in August of 2015. Now Vita owners get a chance to be all stealthy too!
