The new releases are in kind of a funny place this second week of October, nestled between huge AAA madness like Forza 6 and The Taken King and the goodness yet to come with Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Fallout 4 on the horizon. Microsoft is taking it easy this week, which leaves it wide open for Sony and PC releases to slip in under the radar. On a related note, if you're a Nintendo fan, it sucks to be you this week, I hope you like Yoshi.
Arland Atelier Trilogy

Release Date: October 13

Microsoft and current gen Sony gamers can pick up this 30th Anniversary (of the movie) edition, complete with all 5 episodes, for twenty bucks. Add the fact that Biff, Doc, and Marty are all voiced by their respective actors with Telltale's panache for storytelling and this may the best twenty bucks you spend all week.
Corpse Party: Blood Drive
Release Date: October 13
Platform: PS Vita
This Japanese survival horror series culminates with the school girl heroine from the first two games, Ayumi, searching for a Book of Shadows to save her fellow students, as well as the faculty, from insanity. Unfortunately, it's not a sequel to Blood Drive. Oh wait, Blood Drive sucked ass...maybe it's not that unfortunate.
Dragon Quest Heroes
Release Date: October 13
Platform: PS4
On another world, in another time, there is a place where humans and monsters live together in peace. However, that peace is shattered and a band of plucky heroes must save the day! Yeah, it's a trite premise, but both DLCs from the Japanese version are included on disc.

Finally, that Medieval trading simulator that we have all been waiting for! Everyone collect your commodities and get ready to barter. Oh yeah.
Minecraft: Story Mode- Episode 1
Release Date: October 13
Platforms: XB1, 360, PS3, PS4, PC
How does another helping of Telltale sound? Their second offering this week is the first of an episodic Minecraft adventure featuring the voice talents of Patton Oswalt, Catherine Taber, Brian Posehn, and Paul Reubens. Expect choices with consequences, a story (it's in the title...there has to be a story) and some light building elements. This game runs on the Minecraft engine, but don't expect to run off and build your own city or something: it's Telltale, not Mojang. The downloadable version drops on Tuesday, with a retail release slated for October 27.
The Talos Principle
Release Date: October 13
Platform: PS4
The Talos Principle is not a Skyrim spinoff like the title may lead an Elder Scrolls vet to believe (Talos worship was banned anyway...thanks Aldmeri Dominion!) but a futuristic puzzle game with a robotic protagonist forced to confront his own existence.
Three Fourths Home
Release Date: October 13
Platforms: PS4, PS Vita
Released last week on the XB1, Three Fourths Home is a cautionary tale of driving in the snow while dealing with family drama on the phone. Watch those school zones, amigo.
Wasteland 2
Release Date: October 13

Current gen consoles are getting an upgraded port from last year's release on the PC: Wasteland 2 is now running on the Unity 5 engine. In addition to the graphical improvement, quirks, perks, a shooting system similar to VATS, and additional voiced dialogue have been added to the game. This may scratch the ol' Fallout itch if you just can't wait until November.
