The last two weeks have been an absolute blur. Shit..the last two - three years have as well. Went to an actual in person wedding this weekend and saw people I hadn't seen for three years and my head could not wrap itself around that fact. The only reason I have the faintest clue what year it is some days is because I see an ad for an NBA, NHL, NFL, F1,etc game. Even then it messes me up as half are released in the fall but have the next years date on them. Then I have to date math and date math is right up there with hex and base 12...it's stupid. They should just make all the months 30 days long except for July. July should be 35. That would make summers "longer" and date math a shit ton easier. Maybe, but my brain is probably not thinking of all the stupid shit that would happen if we did that. It is thriving/surviving on knee jerk reactions these days.
I wish my reflexes were doing that same thing but there seems to be some sort of delay between the broadcast signal of my brain and the rest of my body as I get older. This is a rambling stream of conciousness that is going nowhere so I am ending this here and now. Let's look at games.
Metal: Hellsinger
Release Date: September 15th, 2022
Platforms: PC, PS5, XSX/S
Remember Quake? Remember the ammo crates were stamped win "NIN". Do you remember Nine Inch Nails did the music for Quake? Were you stoked for that like I was? Well Metal:Hellsinger is like that but x10. First and foremost, from what I have read the FPS Rhythm based game-play is pretty good...that's most important. Then layer that with vocals and tracks by metal icons old and new (Lamb of god, SOAD, Arch Enemy, Jinger, etc) and I have to admit...I am kinda looking forward to it. Also....it's launching on Game Pass so I'm in!
SBK2
Release Date: September 15th, 2022
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, XSX/S
SBK22 - See?!?!? There had to be a game in this bunch that told me what year it was. Anyway, if you don't know, and it took me a while to figure out before I googled the game, SBK stands for SuperBiKe. Apparently there hasn't been an SBK game in a decade so if motorcycle racing is your thing you may want to give this one a look.
Freedom Planet 2
Release Date: September 13th, 2022
Platforms: PC, Linux
The original Freedom Planet was launched in 2014 and developed and published by GalaxyTrail which is mostly a one woman team. Mad respect for the lone developer. That is pure heart and soul being poured into a game. I realize it is now 2022 so yes the sequel has taken awhile but if you love 8-bit games and that look and feel of the golden Sega Genesis era you may want to give Freedom Planet 2 a try. There is a demo out now and plans to bring it to console next summer.
