The date and time were negotiated and the gritty details finalized; the stage was set for the battle between 2o2p and SBG Omega.
2old2play’s roster read like a dysfunctional family; The foundation clans of 2old2play were represented; 2old2play com, Wheezin Geezers and Profanity:
Our worry eased a bit as we scoured our friend lists for fellow members to join in the battle; it seemed frtknckr’s one year old daughter was on our side. As we scrambled for an additional soldier she was sabotaging her dad’s game, concentration and controller. A glimmer of hope!
Finally the remaining brick of the 2old2play foundation entered the room; 2old2pwn was now represented in the battle. DaKingpin55 and chupacabra1loco came to the calls of their fellow gamers. With only one spot left to fill DaKingpin55 gracefully resigned from the room while the silence of the impending battle loomed in the air. chupacabra1loco now joined the dysfunctional family; let the killing begin.
It’s fitting the first game was slayer on Colossus. The customary “Good luck everyone” was exchanged but everyone was ready to start shooting. As soon as we spawned it seemed like they were on the snipe spawn; they got it. The teams were evenly matched man on man or man on woman both blue and red Spartans falling, waiting for respawn.
For what seemed like hours the game was close but finally the One a Day Silver kicked in and 2old2play pulled out in the lead and finished with a victory of 100 to 68.
All of the players for 2old2play reached double digit kills and bradfrom ohio 2, frtknckr and O3O L4BER were the top three killers for SBG Omega.
The next poison was CTF on Zanzibar. 2old2play was on offense first and the rush was fast and furious. I had my hands on the flag within seconds and was almost to Froman before they caught me; but it was too late, the flag was in the open. With the sniper in the hands of RightHandOfGod and BR’s in the hands of the rest of the team 2old2play was assured a capture. Once the flag was capped 2old2play was ready to lock down the base on defense and we did. SBG Omega kept coming in droves, dead bodies everywhere but 2old2play was determined to keep their quarry in the base. There was no contesting, the round was over.
SBG Omega was ready for the second offensive rush, I even heard one declare as I walked into the front door of the base to a shot gun blast to the side of the head, “Not this time, no, not this time.” kevtek17 got his hands on the flag but the second capture proved much harder, BR fire was screaming all over the map, we managed to still capture the precious treasure. More ferocious than ever SBG Omega began their next assault on 2old2play’s base. They were determined and they were everywhere.
With killing machines like LBSUTKE (27 kills) and RightHandOfGod (29 kills) we had hope. SBG Omega managed to get the flag out of the base this round and they were on their way to invisibility spawn. This is where Sunburned Goose, chupacabra1loco and I stepped up, each having three or more flag saves.
With the flag almost to the sea wall 2old2play swarmed around the flag and time ran out. 2old2play came out with this win also; 2 captures to 0.
The bloodiest battle was ahead of us; KOTH on Headlong. The hill didn’t move and the dead Spartan bodies piled up. Wave after wave each team pressed the hill hoping for a few precious seconds. 2old2play got the wrath first and chupacabra1loco was a menace in the ghost. We started with a resounding lead but it didn’t last long, KinglyJurado, frtknckr, and Headhunter8669 weren’t going to let us have our way. SBG Omega now had control of the wrath and their time was adding up. kevtek17 was everywhere killing the opponents at will.
xero70 and RightHandOfGod sniped with a vengeance and ended up with 28 sniper kills; 91 kills total between the two of them; 24 of them kings. Sunburned Goose sacrificed his body for the most time in the hill and still managed 19 kills, 11 of which were kings. LBSUTKE and I supported the team everywhere we could and managed to take out 27 kings out of our total 70 kills. 2old2play ended the sweep with the win; 5:00 minutes to 3:52.
In the pre-game lobby Headhunter8669 asked why we only let people 25 or older join our site and I explained to him for us it’s about life experience and having something in common with the people we play with; partly about testosterone and because we don’t just play we make friends. Honestly though, we had something in common with each of the SBG Omega players whether it was Major MJR who’s married with kids or Headhunter8669 who is still in high school.
We all share something with each of their clan members and that is the love of the game, the thrill of the hunt and the satisfaction of the kill.
