Get ready people, becuase we are only 10 days away from the 2007 2old2con Chicago Lan event! In case you haven't purchased your tickets, you still have time. Read on for more info about the event, what you need to bring, and our tentative event schedule.
What to Bring?
The Systems
First and foremost, DO NOT forget to bring your Xbox 360's. While the lan will have space for other consoles, the Xbox 360 will have around 50 screens ready to plug into at the lan. Old Xbox's will have some spots, but we only have about 10 screens for the original Xbox. If you have a PC or laptop you would like to bring, please feel free to do so. Many of our PC gamers may not have the means to drag along their PC's, so the more we get the better.
All of the rented monitors at the lan are VGA based computer monitors. Since the Xbox 360 only comes with standard analog HDTV cables, we have purchased 70 Xbox 360 VGA cables for the lan. You will not have to buy your own VGA cables as they will be provided for you, however if you already have a VGA cable feel free to bring one in case any issues arise during the lan.
Also, if you have a Wii or PS3 you want to bring, go right ahead. The screens we have rented are VGA based monitors, so just be aware of the connection we have available before you lug other consoles to Chicago. We will have some analog screens available, although that number will be limited.
The Games List (Games you should bring!)
Xbox 360- Gears of War
- Guitar Hero
- Call Of Duty 2 & 3
- Shadow Run
- Rainbow 6: Vegas
- Forza
- Halo
- Halo 2
- World Of Warcraft
Each game will be set up in a 10-12 man "station" style. LAN members can move from station to station during any of the "Open Gaming" times during the LAN. Please remember to label your game disks and systems.
Also, keep in mind that if you don't bring the games and don't bring the system, THERE IS NO LAN. Do not rely on other members to bring the equipment. After all, without the games and consoles, we might as well be at home.
Your ID
In order to gain entry into the lan, you must have a valid ID that states you a clearly over the age of 25. All names will be cross check with our tickets sales so be prepared to have your entire party with you at registration if you bought tickets for other members. As always, there will be no refunds for no shows or cancellations.
Extras
If you have the space in your bags, we are going to need some extras as well. First, if you have any power strips, bring them. The more the better. Last year we had more then enough, but with the large increase this year we just want to be sure everyone has enough power to play. Also, dont forget those extra controllers. You never know when you might want to team up on the same screen or you current controller loses its battery power. So be prepared. Other then that, just bring anything you think can help out the lan. Cables, switches, systems, whatever. The more surplus of stuff we have more likely we wont run into any issues.
