Shared on Fri, 06/23/2006 - 23:13We had some violent storms a couple nights ago, and my router bought the farm, so I was XBOX-less for a few days. Went and bought a new one today. Since I had a Belkin before, and it always worked like a champ, I went Belkin again. There was a Linksys for the same price, but I have seen too many posts on this site about people not being able to get their Linksys router to work with their XBOX.
Anyway, I love this little guy. Its about the size of a deck of Uno cards (Yes, 360 owners, Uno was once played with a physical deck of cards). I can configure pretty much everything off of a really well-designed web portal. All in all, Im just a Belkin networking fan.
Now on to my 360 sob story. If you read my last post, then you know I had the plumber out. Alas, his fees ate up the 360 fund, which was very close to full. So, now I wait until probably Christmas, or maybe next year. grrrrrr
I have a couple friends who just say to "charge that damn 360 already," but I cant do it. I spent the years from 18 to 37 racking up debt, and Ive been playing the paydown game for 2.5 years now. Not gonna reverse that trend, even for a 360. I do this for two reasons, one, because its the wise thing to do, but two because all that open and racked credit was killing my credit score, as I learned at my last car purchase. About another 2 years and I will be down to my house payment and my utilities. Let me tell you, you REALLY have to want to be debt free to get there, but, itll be worth it when I do get there. But, in the meantime, my "gadgetitus" really pains me. No Video iPod for the monkee, no DS, no PSP, no 360, no XM radio, no unlimited data plan with a Crackberry.
I did splurge on a PC recently, but that was a necessary purchase, both because the old one was dying and because I needed something more powerful for my job. WE also took a vacation recently, but it was a cash-only trip, and was worth the extra year of debt Ill have because I spent that money that way instead of on paying debt down.
So, if youre younger than me and can stand to do it, I highly recommend paying off that debt, so youre not in my boat, trying to do it at 40.
Oh yeah, Belkin rocks, by the way.......
