Upon graduating from HS, i found my way in the US Navy. Probably the best career move made in my life. Anyway bootbamp was in Great Lakes, near Chicago. I should of went to Orlando instead, because Chicago was stupid hot in the summer. In Orlando i would have hit by lightning or endure a hurricane, but at least there would be a breeze. Anyway Bootcamp was amazing, got there on a friday, got processed for the haircuts and stuff. Finally laid down for about an hour and thenit was time to get back up. I guess one amazing story that sticks out was that some kid next to me thought he was suppose to go home after the weekend. He keep saying." but I am in the reserves, I am here for only the weekend. Come to find out he tried to scale the wall to get off the base, but they caught him and brought him back. On Monday he tried to slice his wrists with a belt buckle, lets jsut say he didnt last till next weekend.
So upon graduating from the bootcamp, i moved on to Dam Neck, Va for my school, Operations Specialist, 17 weeks of school. Virgina Beach is nice but seriously the "sailor get off the grass" signs had to go. So 17 weeks of training, all of it during the fall and winter. Not much to do there in the winter except hit the books. So i graduated in the top five of my class and had to pick for some orders. Me an a buddy of mine picked a ship out of Japan. So for the next three years i would travel in the orient.
Part two - The USS Kirk, my first three years in the navy and orient tomorrow
