Dawnfades
Shared on Wed, 08/23/2006 - 08:05Well this edition of the blog is filled with fake football thoughts. It's Fantasy & Madden 07 time in the world of Dawnfades.
Had one of my leagues draft order meeting on Monday night. Plenty of beer and bar food but a rather bad outcome for my team the Fusileers. I got the last pick 8 out of 8. While I'd rather have 8 over say 4,5 or 6 it's still going to put me behind the 8 ball. Also I have a tendency to "reach" in fantasy drafts anyway so picking last every other round will send me into a reach frenzy. I can see myself making some crazy pick like Jerious Norwood 8th overall. I must not give in LOL. It will probably come down to a choice between a hurt Clinton Portis or an over-rated Lamont Jordon. When in doubt I take the Raider!
Actual draft is this Saturday with plenty more beer & eats. It's always a great time and for me will official signify the end of my summer from Hell. Then I have another league to draft for in two weeks. It's a fake football fiesta!
Picked up my copy of Madden 07 Tuesday moring because I was in no shape to be on the roads for midnight madness on Monday. After a few games and trying some of the features it's a mixture of good and bad. First up the Hall of Fame edition was a rip-off. The bonus DVD is basically an EA & Madden ad. There weren't more hall of Famer Clips like I was led to belive at time of pre-order.
The mini games & training are fun and add to the over all game. However I might have found a bug as in trying to train for a weeks game when choosing the 40 Yard dash. It hung the game in a Pause mode and the only way I could get out was to kick back to the 360's dash.
The game play is pretty much standard Madden with two big changes additions. The Lead blocking ability lets you control you linemen to try to make a key block. Pretty neat but it's going to take awhile to get good enough to make it useful in game play. The kicking meter has changed a great deal as in it's now more of a rythym timing type game using the right stick. I guess that's what has been used in NCAA 07 so it might not be as big of a hurdle for you as it has been for me.
I love the Hall of Fame bios and film clips for some Hall of Famers. That's just a great addition to the game. Plus younger fans should be exposed to some great players from before their time.
I played one game on-line. Great flow with no lag so that was impressive. Lots of useful information in the profiles. Stanford Rout's 104 yd interception return for a TD at the end of the first half was a game changing moment that turned the tide for my SIlver & Black team!
I hope to be playing a lot of 2o2p members on live. See you on the video gridiron soon!
