I’m fascinated with GTs. I want to know how you guys came up with them. I know some of them are your names, careers or hobbies but since I’m still pretty new to this whole scene I always have to ask Big0ne who people are and did I meet them at the Chicago LAN? If I met you at the C-LAN I’m probably not pronouncing your GT correct and that confuses me even more. Now here’s a little story to explain why I want to make sure I am pronouncing your GT correctly.

Thursday night at the C-LAN Big0ne introduced me to about 7 guys using their GTs and I was Mrs. Big0ne for the rest of the weekend. I remembered most of their GTs later that night and the next day. I didn’t understand one of the GTs and I’m not easily offended but I pride myself on being a lady and what I thought I heard was not something I was going to repeat or call a person. I’m talking about Tait. The rest of the night and the next morning I kept referring to him as the tall, blonde guy that sat across from me at diner. I’m sure Big0ne used his name but I was hearing something else and didn’t want to have to ask for clarification. The next day Big0ne, the tall, blonde guy, scotib and myself spent the afternoon site seeing downtown Chicago. I spoke with the tall, blonde guy but I’m sure I did not address him by his name. Anyway later that night Big0ne was hanging around with the tall, blonde guy and scotib. I noticed the name tag hanging from his neck and said “Oh your name is Tait”. Of course we had to have a very funny and descriptive discussion about what I thought his GT was. (I’m still not going to say it)

So what does all of this have to do with my interest in how people come up with their GTs? I still mispronounce a lot of the GTs so if I’m in a game with you sorry. And to explain my GT I’m not a Librarian. My GT was bestowed on me by Tait and now I have to explain to everyone why he calls me The Librarian. Let’s just say Absinthe…..

All that said, and you still didn't explain WHY I dubbed you "Librarian *edited*"..... lol I had no clue that you thought my name was *also_edited* - oh my, that's ... um, awesome?

Mine is fairly straightforward, as far as pronunciation. I couldn't get the GT I wanted and I was ranting about how the 'unwashed masses' ruin everything, fron a peaceful nap on a Sunday afternoon to getting the GT you wanted. So I decided I would be the UnwashedMass. Kinda like Pizza the Hutt. :)

Good luck with mine... I've heard everything. I'll have to pronounce it to you live next time we are on live together.

Carpe Diem

Mine is easy - it's my initals followed by the designation I was given by MI-6 after I became an agent, 005. I am also, on occaision, referred to as "Double-O" (courtesy of Avril/Skeye) and "Mr. Bond" (Just about everyone else). In all seriousness, I loved both James Bond and then the game Goldeneye, so MTK005 became my online alias in High School. It's stuck ever since. Oh, and I pwn at Goldeneye :p

When we first got an XBox Live account, teddybear and I were playing the same one, so my GT was short for Captain and Hunny. But it still fits cause I tend to be a bit bossy at home. He went on to get his own GT which was suggested by another woman and he now hates for two reasons. One everyone thinks cdlyTeddybear is short for acidly Teddybear instead of cuddly Teddybear and the other is he has decided it is not manly enough for him. I on the other hand love his GT just because it is so unique.

There is a thread in the off topic forum "What the heck is your name?" that I started last week for this very same subject!

I believe I got the name because of my love for the written word.

the "Dr. Phibes" part of mine was a screen name i used back in the bbs days.. late 70s/early 80s.. XBL added the "dead" as an alternate suggestion when I tried Dr PHibes and it had already been taken.. BTW: its pronounced with a long "I", not a long "E" sound:D

Ok, for the record, Tait came up with "Librarian" but I said that sounded stupid and you name yourself "The Librarian". Just sounded better. So I alone came up with "The".
